Topic: Rebalancing the 3 B’s

Description: Analyzing some basic strokes such as rudders, braces and draws we will explore the balance of boat body and blade concept. Every time we edge our boat rotate our body and choose a place to plant the paddle in the water we are trading one aspect of control for another. These concepts apply to all boat and paddles types.

Description: Working with neoprene is not hard and does not require special tools, everything is glued. There are lots of things you can make with the small left overs, and you can make repairs to wet suits, booties, gloves, etc.

Biography: I have been Kayaking since 2000 using a roto-molded Perception Captiva. I am a level 2 ACA Coastal Sea Kayak Instructor. Envious of the outfitting on other kayaks, I started to make improvements on my own. One of my biggest challenges was the spray skirt; finding one that fit the boat and me. Working with neoprene is not hard and does not require special tools, everything is glued. There are lots of things you can make with the small left overs, and you can make repairs to wet suits, booties, gloves, etc. Edging a kayak with the neoprene skirt becomes dryer, which improved my paddling.

Presenter: Frank M. Chillemi

Topic: Selecting Your Kayak

Description: Kayaking is for everyone, but not every kayak is intended for every purpose...every body of water...or every paddler. The wrong boat in the wrong conditions can quickly become very dangerous. This lively and enjoyable discussion will give you the information you need to select the right kayak for your needs, and to get your selection right the first time.

Topic: Photographing Safely From Kayaks and Canoes

Keeping yourself and your valuable equipment safe, however, requires some unique skills. Frank Chillemi is a professional photographer who uses muscle powered boats extensively in his work. This presentation will address those skills as well as showcase some of Frank's photos made from these versatile watercraft.
