Topic: Presentation 2: Ireland Circumnavigation Presentation
|
|   |
| Description:
The toughest decisions of an expedition are sometimes not made on the water, but on shore before
the 20, 30 or 40 Miles crossing: To go out, or not go out. Looking at weather forecasts, tidal charts,
the marine charts, Coastal Pilots books, and taking local knowedge in account, we look and decide
when and if a departure for a longer crossing on Ireland's West Coast is feasible, or not, and to
learn about the few options kayakers have when things go wrong during a 20+ Miles crossing in a
lively marine environment.

windiest in the history of the Irish weather service and thus provided unexpected challenges to the trip.
Past expeditions brought Marcus to Patagonia/Chile (2006), the South and West Coast of Australia (2007),
and Nova Scotia, Canada (2005).
In Summer of 2008, Marcus will attempt to circumnavigate Iceland a 1,450 Miles voyage along shores
